Vitae E-news Update |
April 2010 | |
Behind the Scenes School Kids are Heroes to the Unborn All teachers strive to show students how lessons being learned in the classroom have a real world application. As the Student Council at St. Joseph Cathedral School in Jefferson City , MO , discussed this year's Spirit Week, that lesson was put into action. In keeping with their “Hero Week” theme, the students were encouraged to “Be a Hero, Save a Life” by donating to special fundraisers benefiting Vitae Foundation. At their Spirit Week Assembly, a special presentation of $500 was made to Vitae on behalf of the grade school students. “One of the cornerstones of our Catholic faith is that we are to stand up for the defenseless,” Spencer Allen, principal of St. Joseph Cathedral School , stated. “Our students were able to cooperate with a great organization, the Vitae Foundation, and know that the energy they put into Spirit Week will directly help save the lives of children threatened by a culture of death. This is a powerful lesson that will hopefully help shape the rest of their lives as Disciples of Christ and fishers of men.” |
Before a sold-out audience of 1,200 enthusiastic pro-life supporters, Glenn Beck warned of a “profound change” coming to this country that would wreak havoc with the sanctity of life. Beck’s comments came at Vitae Foundation’s 18th Annual Pro-Life Benefit Dinner in Jefferson City, MO, on March 13. With his signature blackboard behind him, the Fox TV host explained that society is changing and people have to work hard to get the word out that life is valuable. “There is a profound evil coming our way,” Beck told the pro-life crowd, “if we don’t draw a line in the sand.” Click here to read more about the Fox commentator’s take on defending life and why his daughter says to stay in the race and finish it… |

Vitae Influences Kansas Abortion Number Drop There is no doubt about pro-life factors influencing the 9% drop in abortions for the state of Kansas in 2009. The Vitae Foundation believes it also had an influence in the drop in abortions during the last quarter of 2009. Vitae ran 105 billboards directing pregnant women to five different pregnancy centers in the greater Kansas City area offering free help. The majority of the billboards were in Johnson and Wyandotte Counties . They ran from October through January, 2010. “Vitae worked closely with area pregnancy resource centers, business, civic and church communities to get pregnant women the help they need,” Anne Carmichael , Vitae's Vice President, stated. “We knew it was going to be a tremendous campaign when women were cancelling their abortion appointments and choosing life!” Click here to read more about Kansas abortions numbers going down and the Vitae strategy…
In last month's E-News we ran an article about how the Vitae ads were helping save lives at the My Life Clinic in Columbia , MO. One particular story didn't have a known outcome – the college girl who already had an abortion scheduled and yet came to My Life Clinic for more information after seeing a Vitae ad. Now we know “the rest of the story.” Charity Quinn, Director of My Life Clinic, sent us the following update: read story
